After playing guitar in his own rock band for the better part of a decade, Rick Rascati decided to channel that whole experience into a different direction in which there was free reign to compose music that is devoid of commercial pigeonholing and traverse through various musical territories at will. Coming full circle, he gravitated back towards his original instrument, piano. Writing a batch of songs in recent years playing all the parts himself as well as recording and producing it at his home studio on a Mac G5 w/Apple Logic Pro.. From this time on he wanted to create music with the only limits being self-imposed.
Some of his recent forays include; Ambient, World, Techno
and Piano New Age compositions. Some of the artists that have influenced the afore-mentioned styles in his music have been David Arkenstone, Tangerine Dream, Ed Van Fleet, Loreena McKennitt, not to mention Movie and TV soundtracks. Recently, he was among the finalists in the MG music competition by world renowned new age artist Medwyn Goodall to which Mr. Goodall
said, “Rick has the natural ability to do any style he cares to”, which is a high compliment coming from this multi-platinum artist. Also, he’s been getting regular airplay on “En El Aire”, as well as other internet radio sites along with positive feedback from Neuvas Musicas and Lost Frontier which are websites devoted to the fruition of New Age musicians while all along promoting himself. And, along with that he’s been featured on 2 compilations on Epilogue Records, “Celtic Shores II” and “An Amber Christmas”. He’s currently in the process of writing and recording a movie soundtrack themed CD.
