(Original Caption) Coral Gables, Florida...Presenting Check. New Yorker Wins First prize In Florida Tournament. Judge T. E. Price, President of the Miami Biltmore Country Club presents Paul Runyan of White Plains, New York, with a check for $1,000 as first prize in the Florida Year Round Clubs Open, in which six-inch cups were used. Runyan shot a brilliant 266, which was 18 strokes under par for the 72 holes in the first tournament ever played with the larger cups. Left to right Johnny Goodman of Omaha, Nebraska, leading amateur of the United States and amateur winner in the tournament; Gene Sarazen, father of the larger cup idea; Paul Runyan; and Judge Price. Col. Henry L. Doherty President of the Florida Year Round Clubs posted prizes totalling $5,000.
