Oil spill in Peru

21 January 2022, Peru, Ancon: Units are engaged in cleaning up the beach and sea after an oil spill at the La Pampilla refinery, owned by the Spanish group Repsol. Last weekend, about 6000 barrels (159 liters each) of oil spilled during the unloading of a tanker. High waves following the eruption of the Hunga-Tonga-Hunga-Ha'apai volcano on Tonga caused the accident, Respol said. The Peruvian Navy launched an investigation.
