A participant stands in silence during a flash mob event in central Sydney on May 17, 2010 which called on Muslims and non-Muslims to cover their face with something such as a burqua, medical mask or scarf to highlight burqa bans in Europe. Australia has not banned the face and body-covering burqa. "This is simply a silent statement against the ban in other parts of the world and against the mention of the ban in Australia," the organisers of the Sydney event said in a statement posted on the social networking site Facebook.
