IRAQ-IRAN-KURDS-BORDER
A security guard is seen at the Iran-Iraq border crossing of Haji Omran on January 3, 2018, one day after two border posts were reopened between Iraqi Kurdistan and the Islamic republic. The borders had been closed in response to an independence vote rejected by Baghdad and neighbouring countries last year.
The Iranian consulate in the Kurdish autonomous region's capital Arbil announced the Parwezkhan and Haji Omran posts were beginning work again as of January 3 which makes all crossings on the border between Iran and Iraqi Kurdistan up and running after a third post at Bashmaq started working again in October 2017.
