Commun European Toad (Bufo Bufo)
the common toad (Bufo bufo) is photographed from below, thanks to the possibilities offered by the mobile aquarium. 50 mm MF macro lens, 1/60 sec. At f/8. Magnification 0,14X. Low-angle shot of common toad. Cut: 5,9 inches. Distinguishing mark: most widespread of toad. It likes to leave its hole in soft and rainy weather. It hunts insects, worms and slugs: it is an good auxiliary of the gardener. If it feels threatened, the toad inflates its body;and if the danger persists, it flees while nimbly jumping. Each spring the adults turn over to the pond. Only one female lays between 200 and 6.000 oeufs. The small toad leave the pond whereas they reach hardly 0,4 inches, and are extremely vulnerable. Observation: from March to October, variable according to climatic conditions. (Photo by Gilles MARTIN/Gamma-Rapho via Getty Images)
