Lauran Bethell and the New Life Center

CHIANG MAI, THAILAND - 1999/05/01: Two girls lie sleeping in a dormitory of the New Life Center, a non-government organisation for disadvantaged girls and young women. The shelves near their beds contain their few treasured worldy possesions. The girls who are admitted to the center often come from broken homes or are in danger of being drawn into or even sold into the sex-trade. Many are orphans of parents who have died of AIDS. The lucky ones will be given a new lease on life, becoming part of a tight-knit "family" community with vocational training and a lot of loving care and attention from the center's staff..
