Picture shows the famous Piazza del Popolo ("The People's Square"), a circular neo-classical style cobblestone square whose current aspect was designed by the architect Giuseppe Valadier during the late XIXth century. It is one of the main square and a major attraction of Rome in the Campo Marzio district. The picture was taken at sunset, from the Terrazza Del Pincio, a famous touristic spot in the Pincio Gardens, on the Pincian Hill. Several monuments can be seen: the baroque catholic church Santa Maria in Montesanto on the left side (XVIIth century), the Egyptian obelisk (built by Sety I and Ramesses II, from the temple of Re in Heliopolis) in the center and its fountain of the lions (1823) and the roofs of the city and the dome of the famous Saint Peter's Basilica in the background. The city center of Rome is listed as an UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1980.
