SPEECH - Mayor Adams Appoints NYC's 'Rat Czar'

NEW YORK, NEW YORK – APRIL 12: (SPEECH) Deputy Mayor Meera Joshi, Operations, gives opening remarks as NYC Mayor Eric Adams appoints Kathleen Corradi as the citywide director of rodent mitigation, also known as the ‘Rat czar,’ on April 12, 2023 in New York City. Kathleen Corradi, who presently works for the Department of Education of (NY DOE) is NYC’s first-ever ‘Rat Czar’ who’s main goal will be to reduce the rat population in New York City - a major quality-of-life and health issue. Corradi will be a dedicated member of the mayor’s office working solely on rat reduction. The rat reduction efforts will begin in Harlem with a combined $3.5 million investment to combat the rat infestation across city agencies. The press conference was held at Harlem's St. Nicholas Park.
