Nigel Farage interview; BELGIUM: Brussels: INT Nigel Farage MEP (UKIP Leader) walking shot through foyer/ Nigel Farage interview SOT - re WILL CAMERON GET MERKEL ON-SIDE ON FREEDOM OF MOVEMENT REFORMS: - The one thing the German Chancellor will not budge on is the principle of free movement within the EU - She's made that clear - Cameron changed the draft of his speech a couple of months ago on this issue - What I expect to see are some cosmetic concessions - Perhaps the Germans agreeing the Child Benefit should not be paid to children living in other parts of Europe - Even if Cameron stands on the steps of Downing St and says this is a great victory, it still won't work - Because the Poles have made it clear, they will veto it anyway/ re IF CAMERON CAN GET CONCESSIONS ON WELFARE WILL THAT BE ENOUGH TO KEEP UK IN THE EU: - I do not believe the British people can be bought off with anything less than the red line of us being able to control who does and does not come into our country - Unless the British PM can get a concession on the free movement of people I do not believe the British people would vote for us to remain members/ re WOULD YOU SUPPORT A REFERENDUM EARLIER THAN 2017 AS CAMERON HAS SUGGESTED: - Mr Cameron hasn't told the British public that the UK has the presidency of the European Council for the last 6 months of 2017 - It would be impossible when you're president in office to hold a referendum - So now what he's saying is it would be in the first half of 2017 not the last half - Once again, Cameron trying to use language that appeals to UKIP voters and Eurosceptics without it really adding up to anything/ re REFERENDUM: - I think we should have a referendum in July next year - Lets have a General Election and referendum over and done with - No reason why that can't happen/ re SHOULD WE TRY AND KEEP GREECE AS PART OF THE EURO ZONE: - I have argued for over 12 years that Greece should never have joined the Euro i...
